Hans-Peter Kunz, vice-president of IVSI and Fritz Mares, secretary general of the Interski visited the proposed venues and announced them appropriate for the congress. The final decision will be announced on the next board meeting. The first IVSI congress was held in 1969 in Mürren, Switzerland. Following, every four years the congress was organized at major ski centres. The last was held in Zürs, Austria. The possibility of the 2009 congress in Hungary was suggested by IVSI leaders recognizing Hungary's professional work that was reinforced in January 2007 during the Interski Congress in Korea when Hungary was addressed the "world power" of ski instructors .
To the one-week long event in the Skipark of Mátraszentistván 150-250 participants are expected to arrive from around the world. The program will include practical demos, workshops and theoretical sessions as well. The nations will give practical demonstrations on the opening and final closing day that will be attractive to the public.
